Known for its picturesque countryside, historic local attractions and vibrant nearby cities, Lancashire is a dream destination when it comes to park home holidaying.
Here are some of the top reasons to get your hands on a luxurious lodge or holiday home on one of our parks in the North West:
PHENOMENAL HISTORY
Lancashire has a rich history, including fascinating events such as the 15th century Wars of the Roses, in which the house of Lancaster went on to victory against the house of York, when Henry Tudor defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth.
Similarly famous are the trials of the Pendle witches, which occurred in 1612 and are some of the best recorded witch trials from the 17th century. The twelve accused lived in the area surrounding Pendle Hill in Lancashire. Of the nine women and two men who were sent to trial, ten were found to be guilty. The Pendle Witch Trail now exists as a series of walking and driving routes throughout the county.
CHARMING COUNTRYSIDE
The Ribble Valley is a goldmine for picturesque walks, quaint villages, shopping and local events, such as the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show, the Ribchester Roman Festival, and the Middle Earth Beer & Music Festival.
The Forest of Bowland, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, also provides an exceptional landscape for walking and cycling, and is within easy reach of many of our gated communities!
Pendle Hill, famous for the aforementioned witch trials, is also a must-see part of Lancashire. Once home to wolves and wild boar, the legendary landscape offers much to explore, with plenty of country inns along the way.
FABULOUS FOOD
This northern county is famous for many a hearty dish; from Lancashire Hotpot to Butter Pie and Chorley cakes. Not to be forgotten, Lancashire is also revered for its centuries-old cheese varieties: Creamy Lancashire, Tasty Lancashire, and Crumbly Lancashire!
The Ribble Valley has also been dubbed the food capital of the North, with an array of eateries on offer, from family-friendly establishments to Michelin-star restaurants.
For foodies, a holiday in Lancashire will definitely hit the spot!
