PHENOMENAL HISTORY
Lancashire has a rich history, including fascinating events such as the 15th century Wars of the Roses, in which the house of Lancaster went on to victory against the house of York, when Henry Tudor defeated Richard III at the Battle of Bosworth.
Similarly famous are the trials of the Pendle witches, which occurred in 1612 and are some of the best recorded witch trials from the 17th century. The twelve accused lived in the area surrounding Pendle Hill in Lancashire. Of the nine women and two men who were sent to trial, ten were found to be guilty. The Pendle Witch Trail now exists as a series of walking and driving routes throughout the county.
CHARMING COUNTRYSIDE
The Ribble Valley is a goldmine for picturesque walks, quaint villages, shopping and local events, such as the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show, the Ribchester Roman Festival, and the Middle Earth Beer & Music Festival.
