Like many events this year, the Blackpool Illuminations switch-on cannot go ahead as intended and will, instead, be held virtually.
The free-to-access event, hosted by Diversity’s Ashley and Jordan Banjo, will be streamed live in association with MTV. The show will begin at 8:30pm on the 4th September and can be streamed here or on the MTV YouTube channel.
For the first time in its history, the Illuminations have been extended by two months and will run from the 4th September 2020 until the 3rd January 2021, in order to make up for tourism lost due to COVID-19.
Why not make the most of this extension and see the incredible Illuminations for yourself?
You can see the switch-on times for each night here.
This year’s event will see exciting performances from Spice Girl Melanie C, Fleur East, Becky Hill, Tom Grennan, Diversity and Blackpool’s own Rae Morris!
Switching on the lights will be some of Britain’s bravest COVID-19 heroes, including a consultant, two nurses, a hospital catering manager, two fundraisers, and a therapy dog and his owner.
